Ricky Nolasco signs for Minnesota Twins

December 17th, 2013

The Minnesota Twins have reportedly accorded to conditions on a deal with pitcher Ricky Nolasco. Recent reports suggests that the deal is for 4 years with US$ 49 million in guaranteed amount and adds a club choice for the year 2018.

The deal is the biggest in the history Minnesota Twins, exceeding the 3 year, US$ 21 million deal that Josh Willingham finalized 2 seasons ago. Nolasco and Willingham are both represented by Sosnick Cobbe Sports.

An insider suggested that Minnesota had originally just wanted to assure 3 years along with a club selection for a 4th; therefore, their disposition to tote up a forth guaranteed year was the turning point in all negotiations.

Nolasco would be 31 this December. He was one of the most wanted starters on free agent market after registering a 13 – 11 tape with a 3.70 Earned Run Average in thirty four matches between the Dodgers and Marlins in the year 2013. He was dealt to Los Angeles at the start of July, and served his free agent breed by registering an 8 – 3 record and 3.52 Earned Run Average in 16 beginnings with Dodgers down the stretch.

Ricky also got interest from the Padres, Phillies, Dodgers and Giants this off-season, but finally settled to fill one of the rotation holes by going to Minnesota. The franchise has also showed their interest in Mike Pelfrey, Bronson Arroyo, Ervin Santana and Matt Garza this winter. They might also add another starter before the spring training starts in February.
